Ernest Miller Hemingway (Oak Park, 1899 – Ketchum, 1961) was an American novelist whose works are considered classics in twentieth century literature. Hemingway exerted a notable influence for the sobriety of his style as well as for the tragic elements and the portrayal of the times that he represented.

He wrote about twenty works and stories, which had a very peculiar narrative style and led him to win the Nobel Prize in 1954.

He once said that he loved Spain more than any country besides his own and he was fascinated by  bullfights and bull rings. The cities that impacted him the most were Malaga, Pamplona, Madrid and  Valencia.

However, not everything was about bulls and partying. Hemingway’s relationship with Spain went much further as he was a war correspondent during the Civil War for the North American News Alliance.

In addition to his journalistic chronicles, the writer wrote the script of the documentary Tierra Españolawith John Dos Passos, he wrote the theater play The Fifth Columnand finished with what would be one of his masterpieces, For Whom the Bell Tolls(1940).

Along with women and wine, gazpacho seasoned with Extra Virgin Olive Oil was one of his well-known  pleasures. Proof of this are the five recipes of this well-known Spanish dish, all of which are different in texture, flavor and preparation, but share the main ingredients which are olive oil, vinegar, white bread (4 slices), butter, salt, pepper, thyme, garlic and eggs.
